3 Tips For Protecting Your Floors While Moving

Moving is full of a lot of obstacles; that is something that we can all agree on. However, you can make it easier by using professional movers to handle this move. Using professional movers, you will find that their expertise in protecting your home and your belongings is a huge burden lifted off your shoulders. While you may hire professionals, there may be some things that you need to do to ensure this move is successful and no damage happens to your home or belongings.

One of the aspects you need to consider – is your flooring! Granted, when we arrive at your home, we will do our best to protect your floors while moving your items out of your old house into your new home. However, there are a few things that you can do while you are packing up, perhaps scooting items out of the way when you prepare for your movers to arrive.

Tips for Protecting Your Floor

  1. High traffic areas should be covered. You can use whatever you have on hand. Many people may already have rugs in these high traffic areas. Just ensure these rugs will not be a tripping hazard for those walking on it.
  2. Furniture sliders will be your best friend if you will be scooting furniture at your new place to find where you want to place it. These furniture sliders and pads will ensure the floor is not scratched or gouged. And it will make it easier for you to slide these without throwing out your back.
  3. Be sure to prepare for weather that may affect your floors. Let’s face it, Virginia weather may mean a sunny move, or it could be a wet move depending on the weather. If the weather is wet, towels are going to be a relief to have on hand to protect the floors from all the water.
