Moving In: What Needs to be Cleaned Immediately

Moving into a new home is always a time for excitement. While many people may be worried about what to unpack first, we suggest a good cleaning before ever unpacking. Even those who may be moving into apartments are going to find that it is always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to cleaning. Even homeowners often clean the home before they decide to unpack. So, where do you start? We have compiled a few tips to allow you to do a quick clean so that you can start unpacking!

We cannot stress enough how important it is that you clean the bathrooms before you start unpacking. Grab some disinfectant wipes and go to town on this bathroom. Clean the toilet seats, bath/shower, sink and the like. Even if the bathroom looks clean, it is always a good idea to go back over this before you start using it and unpacking.

Be sure to sweep the floors as well as mop. You can avoid doing this in the halls or the entryway, as chances are you will be going in and out still, tracking in more dirt. However, if you vacuum a bedroom now before unpacking the items, you know that you are sleeping in a super clean room. It is always easier to clean floors now, rather than having to move furniture or avoid cleaning underneath this furniture.

Before you go to the grocery to stock your new home, be sure that you clean out the fridge. In most cases, the fridge should be clean, especially in the case of rental homes. However, take a disinfectant wipe and simply go over it once again. This will ensure that it is clean for whatever you want to put into the fridge.

The rest of the cleaning can be done once you have unpacked your items and are settling into the new home. These three ideas simply make it easier to sleep at night knowing that your house is super clean! And don’t forget for your moving needs, Dunmar Moving is here for you!
