A Last-Minute Move: Tips to Help Deal with the Stress

Moving can be stressful, we all realize this. However, how about those last-minute moves? These types of moves can make you feel as though you are losing your mind. This type of stress is understandable. After all, you are doing what usually takes people months of planning, in just a few short weeks or even days, in some cases. We have a few tips to make a last-minute move more manageable!

Prioritize your Tasks

When you have to move last minute, you need to prioritize your tasks in the best way possible. Every minute is precious, and you don’t want to waste any time so you can make your moving deadline. That being said, remember this:

  1. Take what you need and donate what you don’t. There is no need to pack items that you are not going to use in the future.
  2. If you have children, make sure that they are set for new schools, daycares, doctors, etc. Take a few minutes at night to research the different possibilities in your new area and then act on these the next day.
  3. Will you need a storage unit for a short period of time? If so, go ahead and get one so that you can pack and move things into it as you get tasks done.
  4. Make a list of everything that needs to get done…then divide and conquer with your family to ensure it all gets done in time.

Ask for Help

A last-minute move can be overwhelming, so you should consider asking for help. Your family is a great source of assistance. However, if you don’t have family to help or do not feel comfortable asking for help, professional packers and movers can be a great way to speed up the process. It’s important to talk with the company as soon as possible. Dunmar Moving is here for your professional moving needs and would be happy to see how we can help you!
