Moving During the COVID-19 Pandemic

There are situations in which you may have to move, even if there is a pandemic happening across the globe. So, when that is the case…what do you do to ensure that your move is done safely? First things first, moving is deemed an “essential service” by the federal government. However, that does not mean that you can still move. You need to check with your local and state governments. For example, some apartment buildings in larger cities are not allowing a move while there is a shelter in place order.

Moving During COVID-19! Dunmar Moving Systems in Richmond, VA

With this being said, you need to pay attention to the movers that you are using. The good news is that here at Dunmar we are doing whatever we can to minimize the spreading of this virus. Our crews are wearing face masks, gloves and using other methods of sanitation and disinfecting their equipment and everything that is touched. This way, we are doing our part to make sure that everything is safe.

You can do a few things as well:

  1. Wear a face mask while movers are in your home and even when you are outside of your home.
  2. Wash your hands as much as possible to stop the spread of these germs.
  3. Use new cardboard boxes rather than finding used ones or from stores.
  4. Be sure to have a stock of cleaning supplies and hand sanitizer for your new location.

Most importantly, if you or someone in your family is sick, cancel the move. Many landlords and real estate agencies are working with people who need to push their move out date to the future when there is sickness involved. While you may want to move, the key is to move when you are completely healthy!
